This Is What Venner Is For

Venner means friends in Danish.

We have said that before. But the word carries more weight than a simple translation. A name is not just a label. It is a brief. And the brief has always been the same: build a room where the people around the table matter as much as what is on it.

Looking after you is not only about the food or the wine. It is about who grew what you are eating. Who cooked the other half of the menu. The idea that drove us from the beginning was not just welcoming our friends into the dining room. It was introducing them to each other.

This Wednesday, that looks like two kitchens sharing one menu.

Half the dishes are ours. The other half belong to the team from Mapleton Pub, who have been working close to the land in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland long enough to know what it produces well in June. What makes this collaboration interesting is the geography. Mapleton Pub and The Falls Farm have a working relationship with the same soil. Bringing that understanding down to West End, and putting it alongside our kitchen's perspective on the same ingredients, creates something neither of us would arrive at alone.

A shared menu is not a novelty. It is what happens when people who approach food the same way end up in the same room. The seam between two kitchens should be invisible on the plate. That is the intention on Wednesday.

We are glad to introduce you to our friends.
