Friends of Venner: Anim Wine

Dinner · Saturday 3 October

Anim Wine comes to us from Southern Tasmania as the first vigneron to join our Friends of Venner series, bringing with them a story shaped by family, place and a deep connection to the land.

Rich with symbolism from the outset, Anim draws its name from the initials of Max and Siobhan Marriott’s daughters. Its butterfly logo traces back to Max’s childhood and his father, who collected and studied butterflies. Its form evokes both a heart and the map of Tasmania, while the butterfly itself represents the grace and elegance that underpin Anim’s approach to wine.

After years spent making wine across New Zealand, France, Germany and the U.S., Max and Siobhan returned home to Australia, choosing Southern Tasmania as the place to build something of their own.

Rather than sourcing fruit from elsewhere, Anim is built around vineyards they farm and oversee, allowing each site and season to speak in its own voice.

That belief in time, place and the decisions made along the way is what we’re looking forward to sharing on Saturday 3 October, when Max joins us at Venner.

Max will guide us through a selection of Anim wines, beginning with an aromatic white, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, before moving through four single-site Pinot Noirs, each offering a different expression of place.

Sam will shape a menu in response to the wines, allowing the food and each pour to sit comfortably alongside one another.

More than a wine dinner, it is a chance to spend time with the person behind the wines, hear the stories that shaped them and experience them around a table, where they were always intended to be shared.
