Brunch at Venner

Brunch is one of the more underrated meals of the day. Whilst often misconstrued as ‘posh breakfast’, the truth and greatness of brunch lie in the timing, not necessarily the spread. That’s why, despite regaling your table with some seven dishes of neo-Nordic finery, the sum of your indulgence will come to a mere $80.

It was important to us, when conceptualising brunch, that we remained generous and approachable, both on the number of portions we served and on price. Brunch should be casual and carefree, indulgent but honest. This is the time to load up, to embrace a big feed, to drink copious amounts of black coffee and to relinquish the feeling that you are dining. You’re not dining at brunch, you’re feeding.

At Venner, cardamom buns dusted with sugar and served with a dollop of ‘very nice cream’ follow pâte en croûte, smørrebrød with egg salad and caviar, potato rosti with taramasalata and other decadent snacks, all washed down with black filter coffee and Bloody Marys. The odd glass of Chardonnay and Pinot is sunk with aplomb. The dining room noise tells you it's Sunday without you having to check.

In the cafés and bistros of Copenhagen, brunch is awash with friends catching up over dreamy pastries and world class coffee. This is a time to feel alive and free, to embrace friendship and to abandon the shackles of modern day dining.

Venner is open for brunch from 11am to 2pm every Sunday. Bookings are encouraged, walk-ins are very welcome.
